Olive Ridley SEA TURTLES

For threatened Olive Ridley Sea Turtles, Playa Ostional on the Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica is where one of nature’s most impressive spectacles occurs.

Arribadas (arrivals in Spanish) are massive synchronized turtle nesting events where thousands of turtles converge on specific beaches to lay millions of eggs, simultaneously. Playa Ostional is one of these magical beaches.

Experience mass arrivals along with nest digging, egg laying, hatchlings emerging and racing for their lives to the sea.

Tambor Bay Turtles... Is a non-profit turtle rescue operation and nursery where sea turtles' nests are secured and brought to a safe environment for incubation and data collection, before the babies are released back into the wild.

COPROT, Tortugas de Osa...  is a non-profit community sea turtle conservation project on the Osa Peninsula near Carate, Costa Rica. Here, volunteers patrol beaches, facilitate nesting success, conduct data collection for sea turtles, as well as maintain a nursery where endangered nests are relocated for safety from predators.
