Discoveries America, Special Edition focuses on an extraordinary element of American culture. Talented people, interesting places and unusual things. Producers Jim and Kelly Watt introduce you to gifted wood sculptors they encountered while filming the award winning "Discoveries America" DVD and Television series.  Wood sculptor profiles include the following features: Native Carver Duane Bosch has been carving Northern Tlingit style art objects for collectors and ceremonial use for over 20 years.

From his home base in Hoonah he carves in the Northwest Coast style totems, boxes, masks, house posts and rattles. (AK) Vicenti Decoys and Havre de Grace Decoy Museum, Pat Vincenti makes decoys to hunt over and also high quality decoys for collectors.  The Havre de Grace Decoy Museum displays unique American folk art in a stunning setting. (MD)

Wharton Esherick was a sculptor who worked primarily in wood, readily extending his unique forms to furniture, furnishings, utensils, interiors and buildings, creating sculptural environments. His motto, "if it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing." (PA).

Chainsaw Artist Max Orsorio creates outdoor art using his chainsaw like a chisel. Max's work is seen as superior to that of other chainsaw sculptors. Follow his progress as he sculpts from rough log to finished bear. (VT).

Chattanooga Horsin' Around Carousel Bud Ellis teaches both young and old how to carve "the antiques of the future" in the form of carousel figurines. Each project is a work of art! (TN)

Woody's Chair Shop creates classic Early American handcrafted chairs and accessories from seventh-generation chair makers. The Woody family (really!) makes chairs to last, using no nails or glue in the load bearing structure. (NC)

Gene Bahr Wildlife Creations went from fish taxidermy to being a master fish carver to promote "Catch and Release". Now you can catch and release the smallest or the biggest fish and still have a trophy that captures and preserves the memory of your catch! (ME)
