The Rio Grande River... The island of Tierra Del Fuego is divided in half with Argentina owning the Eastern side and Chile the West. The Rio Grande river starts in Chile and runs 50 or so miles before crossing the border into Argentina and eventually emptying into the Atlantic. Martin O'Farrell, who owns Trevelin Lodge in the Esquel region of Argentina takes you on an exploratory trip to Chile's Rio Grande and a sea trout fishery he plans to develop. Though a bit early in the season for many sea run brown trout to be this high in the river system, the exploratory party still managed to have excellent fishing. Big fish and the great humor and spirit of Martin O'Farrell, will quickly make you reach for the phone to book a trip there. Fly Tying: "Emilio's Minnow," an extraordinary Chile pattern developed by Jim & Kelly Watt.
